Leslie Kaminoff is a yoga educator inspired by the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar. He is recognized internationally as a specialist in the fields of yoga, breath, anatomy and bodywork. For over three decades he has led workshops and developed specialized education for many leading yoga associations, schools and training programs in America and throughout the world. His approach to teaching combines intellectual rigor, spontaneity and humor, and is always evolving.
In the introduction to the weekend workshop, he uses visually rich lecture-demo, to review yogic teachings from a historical, scholarly and practical perspective. He will also discuss the history and integration of Eastern and Western anatomical systems. His workshop titles often include the phrases: “Dymystifying; Re-imagining Alignment; Mythbusting; From the Inside Out.” His choice of phrases demonstrates the deeper understanding participants will gain about their body’s relationship to yoga asanas, as well as their personal relationship with their own body. Starting with clear, simple principles that govern musculoskeletal function, Leslie will help you put your yoga on a solid foundation literally from the ground up (and from your head down).
"If you're a yoga teacher, and even if you're not, LK's class will fundamentally change the way you teach & practice yoga. It did for me. Leslie is wonderful at demystifying complex subjects & making them readily accessible -- both on an intellectual academic level & on a tangible experiential level. What's more, he's refreshingly non-pretentious and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everybody's on the same page." ~Suzanne Ausnit, Yoga Teacher, NY & TX
Leslie is also the founder of The Breathing Project, a New York City based educational non-profit dedicated to teaching individualized, breath-centered yoga. Leslie created and teaches The Breathing Project’s unique year-long course in yoga anatomy, also available online at yogaanatomy.net. He is the co-author, with Amy Matthews, of the best-selling book “Yoga Anatomy.”
