Teacher Spotlight - Kristen Stritter

KRISTEN STRITTER

"I would watch the eagle from Sunrise Mountain in Stokes State Forest in NJ all the time and I would recite my own poem to myself...

'If I had one wish, my wish would be,
to fly like an eagle through the breeze.
Softly turning and gently floating
Higher and higher above the trees.
For Closer to god, I’d be.'"

Our teachers are what keep the energy flowing in our studio (and out in the elements) and we would love for you to meet all of them! This month, we are highlighting Kristen Stritter! Learn more about her below...

What is yoga to you/What brought you to yoga?

Yoga is living everyday with humble appreciation. What brought me to yoga was just the need to fulfill college credits which turned into a lifelong love affair!

Example of your yoga off the mat?

Ideally viewing the world through non-judgemental eyes. Not an easy task to remove all those layers of thought, criticisms or judgements, but I try and take it one day at a time. One moment at a time.

Specific classes/style of teaching:

I love teaching flow classes and the ones I kind of do on the fly. Whenever I plan, plan, plan out a whole class it never ends up being what I planned. I love when I truly connect with my clients and feel their energy and that allows for a class to evolve.

What superhero would you be and why?

I don’t know what superhero that I would be, but I know what muppet I would be – Animal playing the drums all the time!! LOL

What’s your spirit animal/why?

Eagle – I would watch the eagle from Sunrise Mountain in Stokes State Forest in NJ all the time and I would recite my own poem to myself...

“If I had one wish, my wish would be,
to fly like an eagle through the breeze.
Softly turning and gently floating
Higher and higher above the trees.
For Closer to god, I’d be. “

If you could speak to only one type of animal (other than a human) what would it be?

That would be my dog. Even though we communicate to each other in our own way, I still would love to hear how she would vocalize her thoughts!

Role model or most influential teacher (yoga or non-yoga related)?

I think every human has the potential to be a role model and I look at many of the amazing teacher around me who offer lessons daily. But I definitely think the Siddhartha and Ghandi lived amazingly fearless lives with such strong faith that I would love to just harness an ounce of that kind of energy.

Where would you go in a time machine?

I would love to walk along side of Jesus and physically witness his compassion for humanity.

If you were ice cream, what flavor would you be and why?

If you had 3 wishes for a non-tricky genie, what would they be?

I would wish my mom could sell her house so she could move down here! I would wish my mom feel happy, healthy and secure all the days of her life. I would be independently wealthy and we could travel all over the world. (was that two wish in one?!?!)
